Helping school kids get back to basics

Today's announcement of an LNP plan to improve numeracy and literacy skills has been welcomed by Member for Maroochydore Fiona Simpson.

Ms Simpson said that $26 million would be provided over four years to give Principals and the school community more help for children struggling with their reading, writing and mathematics skills.

LNP pledges funds for Kawana marine infrastructure

LNP Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie has welcomed the LNP's $120 million package to build more boat ramps, artificial reefs, fishing pontoons and deepen channels over the next four years.

"This is part of the LNP's commitment to fix two decades of neglect of marine infrastructure under this tired, 20-year Labor government," Mr Bleijie said.

LNP Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP has welcomed the LNP's commitment to boost female enrolments in traditionally male-dominated careers providing up to 500 university places for Queensland women in areas of skills shortage.

"The LNP's Strengthening Our Communities - Supporting Women program will fund up to 500 places at university in courses such engineering, agricultural science, geology, architecture and building services courses," Mr Powell said.

LNP to help clean up our own backyard

Local community and environmental groups in Glass House will receive funds to assist in cleaning up and conserving our local natural environment, LNP Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP said today.

Mr Powell said an elected LNP government will help local communities and groups with funding from $2,000 to $100,000 for projects to clean-up and protect the environment as part of its Everyone's Environment Grants  program.

Simpson welcomes work on David Low Way sink hole

State MP Fiona Simpson has welcomed news that Main Roads will soon start on reconstruction of David Low Way after a large sink hole closed half the road last week.

Ms Simpson said the Department had advised that work would commence on David Low Way, between the Coolum Peregian Sports Complex and Tritonia Drive, Coolum Beach as soon as weather permits.
