LNP commits $40 million for floodplain security

Published in Wide Bay Written by Stephen Bennett

The LNP's Stephen Bennett will ensure flood-prone communities such as Moore Park get special attention under the LNP's Floodplain Security scheme, should he and the Party be elected on March 24.

Mr Bennett said the LNP's plan to provide $40 million over four years, to be followed by an ongoing and longterm $10 million-a-year state government investment in improved flood security, would better protect flood-prone Queensland communities.

Today's commitment by the LNP to provide $120 million towards building more boat ramps, artificial reefs, fishing pontoons and to deepen channels will be welcome news to Bundaberg and Burnett's many recreational fishers.

LNP Candidate for Burnett Stephen Bennett and State Member for Bundaberg Jack Dempsey said the announcement addressed the long neglect of marine infrastructure by the tired, two-decade old Labor government.

The LNP's Stephen Bennett will fight to see residents of Burnett reap benefits under the LNP's Royalties for the Regions program which will build better roads, health, education, community and sporting facilities in regional Queensland.

Mr Bennett said the program included $170 million over four years for the Resource Community Building Fund and $285 million over four years for Roads to Resources.
