Labor's election-eve kindy bribe

Bligh Labor was attempting to bribe parents of kindergarten children with an election eve promise to fix 20 years of building and playground neglect, the LNP said today.

LNP Shadow Education Minister Dr Bruce Flegg said it was the same old tune from tired old Labor that had had 20 years to fix things including sub-standard buildings, playgrounds and equipment, and staff facilities.

"Anna Bligh is sounding like a broken record – using recycled money from a recycled broken promise," Dr Flegg said.

"The tired, 20-year Labor Government previously announced funding for 240 new kindergartens - Anna Bligh and Labor broke their promise to deliver these new kindergartens and they cut money from the building program.

"Today we hear Anna Bligh and Labor re-announce money they've previously pulled from the building program.

"This lazy, long-term government has had 20 years to plan and deliver maintenance programs for our kindergartens, but only now do they decide to offer grants and upgrades on the eve of an election.

"Anna Bligh's announcement is nothing more than a blatant election eve bribe from a Premier who has overseen gross mismanagement of our schools and kindergartens.

"Everything Labor has touched from asbestos, to Prep, to teacher aides and school computers and IT support, has turned into a costly debacle for Queensland taxpayers.

"Only an LNP Government can get Queensland Back on Track.

"It's time for a change. It's time to get Queensland back on track," Dr Flegg said.
